Robert Bauchman leaving Northern Trust of Vero Beach for California

Robert W. Bauchman, president of the Northern Trust Bank branch in Vero Beach ever since the old Beach Bank was acquired by Northern 14 years ago, is leaving Vero to take a new position with the bank in San Diego.

Bauchman's impending departure was announced in a letter to bank employees on August 8th. He could not be immediately reached for comment.

During his time in Vero, Bauchman not only led the bank through a period of growth, but also oversaw construction of a new Northern Trust building after the old Beach Bank suffered heavy damage in the 2004 hurricanes.

Bauchman has been active in a variety of civic and charitable events, serving as a board member of the Indian River Medical Center Foundation, Vero Beach Museum of Art, Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council, Vero Beach Rotary Charities Foundation, Riverside Theatre and Rotary Club of Vero Beach.

Sources said his successor was not expected to be named for another month.
