Five talented young artists chalked up some new masterpieces outside the east entrance of the Indian River County Main Library on July 11th as their entries in the Vero Beach library's Sidewalk Art Graffiti Contest.
The theme of this first contest, part of the library's Sizzlin' Summer events for youth, was "Friends."
Ashley Acord and her step-brother, Travis Vick, worked together to create an image of two people holding hands with the world as their backdrop. Their idea came from their grandmother, Sue George, whom they are visiting while on vacation from Michigan. “We all live on the earth as friends,” explained Ashley.
Katlin Leonard of Vero Beach drew a lifelike picture of her and her best friend, Olivia, riding their favorite horses, Chrissy and Roxy. “It’s our favorite thing to do together," Katlin said.
Best friends at the beach was the image Kaila Kelly drew, showing how she and her best friend, Samantha, like to spend time together. Ten-year-old Isabella DeGracia’s design illustrated the “Friends” theme by using the characters from her favorite website, “Club Penguin.”
The next sidewalk art contest’s theme is “Waterways,” and will be held on Friday, July 25th at noon at the east entrance of the Indian River County Main Library. For more information, please call (772) 770-5060 ext. 4121.
