Tribute to Beatles to be August fund-raiser for Museum of Art

by a Staff Writer

Friends of The Vero Beach Museum of Art, the only barrier island organization that regularly attempts summer fundraisers, has announced that this year’s event will be “Magical Mystery Tour: A Tribute to the Beatles” which will be held on Saturday, August 16th, from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

The event will feature one of the many Beatles tribute bands, The Beat, who in addition to bringing the music of the Fab Four to Vero, also will perform songs of Herman’s Hermits and the Dave Clark Five, all while attired in classic costumes.

The organizers, of course, are counting on guests to also come attired in throwback costumes, which will give them a chance to participate in the “Do You Want to Know a Secret? Costume Contest.”

While invitations to Friends of The Vero Beach Museum of Art members are not expected to go into the mail until July, it is apparently never too early to start planning. “Whether you come dressed as the walrus, a blue meanie, lovely Rita or your favorite Beatle, you’ll be sure to make the scene,” the preview announcement proclaims.

In addition to “grooving to the music,” organizers say guests will enjoy complimentary wine and beer (cash bar), a Scarf-a-Munga Buffet, and will be able to “spend your bread” for a chance in the “ Money Can’t Buy Me Love Raffle.”

And if you haven’t seen it before Aug. 16th, guests will also have the opportunity to view the exhibition ECSTASY: The Mystical Landscapes of Walter Anderson, which opens June 28th in the Schumann Gallery.
