Dr. Nachum Raphaeli, 78, of south beach died Oct. 25th at the VNA Hospice in Vero Beach. He was born in Poland in 1930 and lived in Vero Beach since 2001, coming from Palestine, Zurich, Switzerland and Chicago. He studied under British rule in Palestine and fought in the war of independence in 1948. He graduated with a medicine degree from the University of Zurich in 1956. He was a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and practiced in Chicago and Libertyville, Ill., until he retired in 1995. He was a Sea Scouts member in Palestine. Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of Vero Beach; son, Alan of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; daughters, Robin Shartiag of Highland Park, Ill., Lisa Watkins of Westport, Conn., and Tamara Raphaeli of Chicago; and eight grandchildren . Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Youth Sailing Foundation, 700 North Indian River Drive, P. O. Box 3108, Fort Pierce, FL. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Oct. 28 at Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach, with the Rabbi Michael Birnholz officiating. A guest book may be signed at seawindsfh.com/obit.php. |
