James Barclay Malloy, 80, a seasonal resident of John's Island, died on Sept. 18th after several years of declining health. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Jacqueline Mary Malloy (Stamato), his dear children, James K. Malloy, John B. Malloy, Joan M. Marra, and Nancy M Axilrod, and stepchildren, Stephen Quazzo, Marco Quazzo, and Cristina Quazzo, Steven Beauchamp, and Kathy Beauchamp Rumpf. He is retired CEO of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation. He has a broad list of activities in which he was affiliated and has contributed, including serving as a trustee of Babson College, his alma mater, Board Member Boys Hope Girls Hope, Trustee Emeritus at Saint Louis University High School, Former member of the Boards of the St. Louis Area Boy Scouts of America, the Clayton Chamber of Commerce, St. John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Missouri Baptist Hospital, Beau Arts Council, the Arts and Education Council, Knights of Malta, St. Louis Zoo Foundation, Indian River Medical Center, The Crudem Foundation, American Red Cross, Riverside Theatre of Vero Beach, Vero Beach Museum of Art, American Diabetes Association, March of Dimes, the Mental Health Association, and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Society. Mr. Malloy was also an avid golfer. He was named the First Chairman of the Ireland Chamber of Commerce in the United States of America (ICCUSA). In 1988, named one of the Top Irish- American Corporate Leaders by Irish American Magazine in 1990, received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 1990, and named Business Person of the Year in 1992 by the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. Visitation Tuesday September 23, at Kriegshauser West 4-8 p.m. Funeral Services Wednesday, September 24 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Clayton. |
