Stirling, Robert K., 78

Robert K. Stirling, 78, died Sept. 7th at his home in Indian River Shores.

Born in Detroit, he was a resident of Indianapolis and Vero Beach. He graduated from Wayne State University and from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1955.

He practiced family medicine at Stirling Clinic in Decatur Township, Indianapolis for more than 50 years. He was one of the original eight doctors who founded Westview Osteopathic Hospital in Indianapolis in 1972.

He played the bagpipes in the Detroit Chrysler Piper Band in Detroit during Lions football games.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marie H. Stirling of Indiana and Vero Beach; son, Robert K. Stirling, Jr. of North Salem, Ind.; daughters, Mary Baker of Vero Beach and Nancy Smith of Danville, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Isabelle Muzzy.

Donations may be made to the charity of ones choice. A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at the family residence, 5800 A1A, Vero Beach.
